Three Icelandic students visiting

A group of three Icelandic students are now visiting ABC Children’s Aid in Kenya.

This is a message we received from Thorunn Helgadottir, the founder and director of ABC Kenya yesterday

New house and a new school

Recently, ABC Children’s Aid purchased a plot adjoining the Mathare slums, were we plan to build our own children’s home, since currently we are renting rooms in a school compound located in North Mathare called Star of Hope.

The new plot will house a school catering up to 1000 students as we have recognized the need to build our own schools to cater appropriately for the children coming off the streets.

Discussions with local elders resulted not only in the donation of a plot to house a school but also commitment to a change in attitude toward FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) and early marriage of girls.
